My word today is an action, a brain-body connection. Jumpingjacks, and yes, I made it one word. I made up the game so I make up the rules. I'm going to do ten jumpingjacks every hour.
I have this brilliant habit journal that helps me stay on track with the things I want to accomplish, but then if I miss something, I get bent like a pretzel and fall into an abyss of "why bother." Which, ironically, is so perfect for the fact that today's word was "perfect".

It's a new year, a new document, a new day. Same old me. Although not quite. They say you never step in the same river twice. So as cliché as it may sound, my word for the day is: new. Not in a "new new" way, but more in an "old stuff seems new and shiny" way, like it does every year.

I set myself a few goals this year. Nothing grandiose, more like tasks, really. Things I could do and then look at and say yup, did that. One of the things I decided to do this year is gratitude journaling. Maybe you’ll have a little better day because of it. And maybe you'll even share it with me. I'd be most grateful.

I like to reflect on the past, smile at the good things, scowl at the bad and look for ways that it can inform my present. Today I’m reflecting on the year that we called 2016, which was pretty damn interesting, in that Ancient Chinese Curse kind of way. Here’s how it went.
